The Imaginarium of Hollywood
Thursday, October 15, 2009 It seems so hard for Hollywood films to come up with original marketing ideas. Every now and then studios invest in something creative and viral, like Paranormal Activity, which became a huge success. Others, with limited resources, prove that you can be creative and innovative without changing the traditional marketing medium. In this case, posters.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Terry Gilliam's latest film, is an example of a beautiful creative film that will likely fail in the box office for exactly that reason. Too creative and 'out there' for most people. Let's not forget that this is Heath Ledger's final film before he died, but people are not as excited to see that as they were last year when The Dark Knight came out.
Check out the beautiful new poster for the film. I wish more people would take the time and effort to develop posters like this, instead of copying each other and re-using the same style, font and type of photo from another movie.
